If your teeth are discoloured, you may want to consider teeth whitening. There are three types available:
- Over-the-counter products to be used at home
- Custom kits designed by our dentists to be used at home
- In-chair treatments which must be performed by a dentist
The differences between the treatments are their efficacy and concentration. At-home treatments are less concentrated and need to be applied several times over a given period. The treatments we use in the clinic are stronger and require only one application.
There are two types of dental veneers, porcelain and composite, both of which act as enamel shells that fit around chipped or stained teeth. Porcelain veneers are durable, stain resistant and easy to maintain, and a great option for stained, crooked or chipped teeth. Composite veneers are less expensive and involve a faster treatment.
A new and exciting technology, invisible braces are clear, plastic, 3D-printed aligners that are worn 24 hours a day to correct the position of your teeth. They are far less noticeable than the traditional, bulky metal options.
An alternative to amalgam (metal) fillings, white (or composite) filings give a far more natural look and are therefore more cosmetically appealing. Their other advantages include reduced sensitivity to temperature and the ability to restore the original strength of the tooth.
Crowns & dental bridges
Dental crowns are custom-designed helmets for teeth used to restore integrity. Dental bridges are used to fill in the gaps left by missing teeth; they are anchored to the teeth that remain on either side of the gap. For patients with damaged or missing teeth, both of these treatments provide a natural, aesthetically pleasing option.
Dentures are used to replace a single tooth or a whole set and increase the functionality of molars. They can feel a bit odd at first, but once you get used to them you won’t even know that they are there.
